Each Item is modelled by hand to produce a wax model which is then used to produce the mould from which the silver casting is made.  The first and most fundamental value of the object to be created lies in the quality of the original model.  All Staurno models have the smooth lines and elegant shape created by master craftsmen with certain knowledge of the object being created.

 

The design of these models respects the quality of the silver used, substantial sterling silver (92.5%), luminous and highly polished where light and its reflections only contribute to defining the features of the model.

 

The palette of colours produced by Saturno craftsman are one of the company's major strong points.  Colour shades are tested by painting the metal, which must be totally free from impurities and imperfections, then firing at medium temerature, as until this process has been completed the final effect cannot be assessed.  At this point the meticulous and complex painting process takes place on all models by brush using several enamels, each being set at medium temperature.  The process is then completed with a final translucent protective layer.

 

The trademark is an excellent example of the special sensitivity required to model wax for silver castings.  The skills required to produce these animals represent the best in artistic and technical skills, the final models being valuable because of their beauty and their ability to evoke sensations.
